What is a Life Coach?

A life coach is someone who helps improve your personal and/or professional life by offering support and encouragement while suggesting new ways to achieve your goals. It is a support system with one goal in mind: improving your quality of life.

The partnership you form with your life coach focuses on achieving your goals and dreams. A life coach assists you in exploring and identifying your life’s passion and purpose while guiding and encouraging you to find your answers within.

Life coaches are skilled in listening and observing with the intention to customize unique solutions and strategies for each individual client. The coach’s responsibility is to provide support to enhance the natural creativity and internal guidance the client already has.

 

 

What does a life coach do?

Life coaches, through a partnership with the client, help produce positive results, whether in their professional or personal lives. They help people perform better and ultimately improve the quality of their lives.

A life coach is helpful when the person is in a transition phase and needs support for any of the following reasons:

  • Difficulty dealing with stressful situations
  • Difficulty making life decisions

Psychotherapy Background

Mark Venckeleer is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a Master’s of Social Work degree from Walla Walla University. Mark has worked in the areas of mental health, advocacy, counseling, psychotherapy and coaching within a wide population including schools, prisons, colleges, mental health clinics, residential facilities and hospice.

While in graduate school Mark worked as intern at Walla Wall State Penitentiary providing therapeutic services to inmates. Mark worked for Walla Walla County Department of Human Services as an Adult and Family Support Clinician where he worked with adults and adolescents with psychiatric disabilities, providing individual and group psychotherapy, crisis intervention, psychological assessments, discharge planning, and appropriate referrals. After he graduated with his masters Mark worked as Clinical Coordinator in a residential treatment setting where he provided psychotherapy, case management, anger management, and behavioral interventions to abused/SED children, adolescents and their families. Mark has worked as a psychiatric case manager for the dually diagnosed and the severe and chronic mentally ill where he provided a full range of therapeutic services to assist clients in adjusting in society. Mark has worked in several mental health clinics providing psychotherapy to children, adolescents, adults and families.

Mark works from a broad eclectic base where he meets the unique needs of each client with a specific therapeutic blend tailored to each person he serves. Mark specializes in mindfulness, anxiety reduction, anger management, trauma, mood disorders, self-esteem development, goal achievement, and stress management. Aside from Marks specialties his preferred therapy modalities include: Solution Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Crisis Intervention, Insight Orientated Therapy, Gestalt and Psychodynamic Therapy.
Mark is an accomplished speaker with Toastmasters, where he found a passion for public speaking: inspiring others to new heights with contagious energy. Mark has provided in-services on various topics including mental health, motivation and passionate living.
Spirituality is a key factor in Mark’s approach with clients to achieve their desired goals. He understands the significance of one’s spirituality in healing and growing.
